/ JUDGING PROCESS.
The WorldWiDE EdTech Award judging process consists of two rigorous phases. First, we conduct an initial evaluation to identify the top 50% of submissions. Then, our final jury determines the winners through comprehensive assessment.
Our independent jury brings together experts from across the global EdTech ecosystem, ensuring diverse perspectives and thorough evaluation. These international judges represent educators, researchers, investors, and industry leaders who understand what makes educational technology truly effective.
All nominations are assessed across five key criteria.
- Effectiveness: Does it improve learning outcomes, engagement, or operational efficiency?
- User adoption: Who uses it and at what scale?
- Equity: Does it improve access or outcomes for underserved groups?
- Evidence quality: Are claims supported by studies, pilots, or independent reviews?
- Usability: Is it intuitive for first-time users?
- Relevance: Does it help users complete core tasks faster/better?
- Quality: Is the experience coherent, polished, and performant?
- Novelty: What’s new in method, pedagogy, or technology?
- Problem–solution fit: How well does it address a real pain point?
- Interoperability: Does it play well with existing tools/standards?
- Responsible AI: If using AI, is the approach explainable and appropriate to the learning context?
- Localization: Is language/locale handled well?
- Standards: Does it meet accessibility best practices (e.g., WCAG) in spirit and practice?
- Multiple modes: Are captions, transcripts, alt text, TTS/keyboard navigation available where relevant?
- Inclusivity: Does it work for users with limited connectivity or older devices?
- Data protection: Are privacy practices clear (age-appropriate, etc.)?
- Safeguards: Are there guardrails for harmful content, harassment, or misuse?
- AI safety: Are model limits, human oversight, and redress processes in place?
- Sustainability: Does the product minimize its environmental impact?
